Chamonix Ski Areas

The Chamonix Valley has some of the best skiing in the world & hosts World cup skiing (the Kandahar) on the Verte piste in Les Houches. Chamonix’s ski areas are able to open from December to May. The long season being due to the availability of high-altitude skiing. Chamonix’s skiing extends over 6 areas in the valley:

Grands Montets: high altitude skiing offering on and off piste skiing.

The Balme area: accessed from Le Tour and Vallorcine.

Les Houches: which is great for intermediates & if the weather is bad. It is also where Chamonix holds its famous Kandahar world cup race.

Brévent (Chamonix) and Flégère (Le Praz): with south-facing slopes and amazing views of the Mont-Blanc massif.

The famous Vallée Blanche (Chamonix): a 20km run best accessed with a local guide.

Chalet La Moraine is a luxury self catering ski chalet ideally situated to explore all the different ski areas in the Chamonix valley. Courmayeur in Italy is also easily accessible through the Mont Blanc tunnel and is included on the unlimited ski pass. Verbier in Switzerland is also included in the Mont Blanc unlimited ski pass & is about a 1 ½ hour away by car.
