A little bit about Chamonix

The Chamonix Valley in the French Alps is a mecca for winter and summer outdoor activities: mountaineering, hiking, climbing, biking, paragliding, plus fabulous skiing, boarding and lots of other winter activities.

Chamonix is the home of mountaineering and, unlike many alpine resorts is a busy, thriving alpine town, all year round. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in Chamonix and Les Houches, perfect for après ski or indeed any time of the day eating and drinking. There is a wide selection of shops in Chamonix to suit all requirements, tastes and budgets from Chanel to local food shops and supermarkets. It is therefore an ideal place for self catering holidays and the weekly Saturday morning market is great for picking up local produce.

A sports centre, swimming pool, tennis courts, cinema screening English and French films and a golf course all complement the local amenities in the Chamonix Valley. However, Chamonix is situated close to the Mont Blanc tunnel and the Italian border & also to historic towns and cities like Annecy & Geneva so you can really explore different places whilst on your holiday.

Spectacular mountain scenery, majestic ice falls and glaciers, one of Europe’s highest cable cars and a ski season from December into May, all mean that Chamonix is difficult to beat as a winter ski or summer holiday destination & Chalet La Moraine, a luxury self catering chalet is the perfect place from which to enjoy the truly beautiful Chamonix valley.
