A little bit about how to get to Chamonix

There are a number of options for getting to Chalet La Moraine ahead of your ski or summer holiday. A lot of guests drive as if you want to stock up ahead of a self catering holiday or just want to enjoy the experience of driving across France it can be a great option, alternatively a lot of our guests fly into Geneva airport which has regularly flights from many of the UK airports. In fact one of the great things about Chamonix is its accessibility.  Chamonix is just over an hours drive from Geneva airport and about a nine hours drive from Calais.

By Air

The nearest airport, Geneva is only an hours drive (88km) from Chamonix by motorway. Most budget airlines fly into Geneva from many UK airports. Easyjet ( fly to Geneva year round.

Lyon airport is also an option, and is about a 220km drive.

If you do drive from the airport then there are several car rental places at the airport. You could book direct or try a broker, someone like to check out prices. It’s motorway most of the way so it’s a good drive.

Alternatively there are various airport transfer companies which will meet you from your flight and deliver you to your door. There isn’t a direct train route.

Public Transport

There is a daily coach service from Geneva to Chamonix. There is a SNCF train station in Chamonix, however, there is no direct train from Geneva to Chamonix.

In the Valley

In the Chamonix valley there is a very good infrastructure for driving, however, there is also a good ski bus network throughout the valley & there is also a local train service & trains go from the Taconnaz stop, a few hundred metres from the Chalet straight into the Chamonix train station, in the heart of Chamonix town.

Nearest Ferry:

Calais at approx 895 kilometres.

Nearest Airport :

Geneva at approx 90 Kilometres.

Nearest Train Stop to Chalet:

Taconnaz at approx 400 metres.

Nearest Bus Stop to Chalet:

Taconnaz at approx 200 metres.

Recommended to fully explore the valley & surrounding area.
