The majestic Mont Blanc at 4,810 metres is the backdrop of the spectacular scenery of the Chamonix Valley. Chamonix is a popular winter skiing, snowboarding and summer holiday destination, but is well worth a visit all year round.

Chamonix is often described as the home of Mountaineering with the first ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786. In the twentieth century, it hosted the first winter Olympics games in 1924 and today is world renowned for its skiing & winter sports as well as its climbing and summer activities.

Over the years, it has attracted everyone from Lord Byron to rockstars to Royalty. It is a thriving alpine town year round and there is something to suit everyone from the keenest sports enthusiast to those that just want to relax and take in the spectacular views. The same goes for the night life which can be as late or as relaxed as you want it to be. There are lots of restaurants and bars in the valley to cater for every taste and budget. There are also shops from local supermarkets to Chanel.

The ride up to the The Aiguille du Midi on Europe's highest cable car is not to be missed. From the Aiguille du Midi viewing terraces at 3,777 metres you get unparalleled views across to the French, Swiss & Italian Alps.
